Choir Auditions (Again)
IMPORTANT: If you have not filled out the Choir Audition Form do it ASAP. Below is the audition inform form last week.
  Current Choir Students: Your audition will be based on your tests and performances over the course of this past school year.  All current choir students need to fill out the Choir Audition Form which is your first assignment this week.  Please fill out this form by Tuesday, April 21st.  Please also encourage your friends not currently in choir (8th graders too) to fill out the Choir Interest Form available on the choir website: www.uintahhighchoir.weebly.com, on the main page.
  New Choir Students: 8th graders and students not currently in choir need to fill out the Choir Interest Form.  This form is available on the choir website: www.uintahhighchoir.weebly.com, on the main page.  Students showing interest and good academic standing will be enrolled in choir.  Official auditions will be held in the fall.
 
Week 6 Assignments in Canvas
There are 2 things to complete in Canvas this week:
                  1. SENIORS ONLY.  Fill out the Senior Program Form.
                  2. ALL STUDENTS. Personal Rehearsal Assignment – Please read the instructions on Canvas.  Plan to spend 15                            min. a day rehearsing and relearning “I See Colors”.
 
Senior Program Form
All seniors please fill out the Senior Program Form.  The information will be used to create a Senior insert in the Spring Choir Concert program.  Link: https://forms.gle/TcNyJ9587wFCF3jL6    (It’s also in Canvas.)
 
SoVoce
If you have time this week record and send me a video, via email, of you singing Higher Ground.  Do the whole song.  Use the full rehearsal recording link on the choir website. We’ll see if we can pull together another video.

Choir Video Conference
I am planning to have a video conference using Zoom on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. This will be the schedule:
                  All Choir Students – 11:00-11:45am
All Uintah High Choir students are invited to attend this conference if they have any questions that they would like to ask live or if they would like to talk with Mr. Merryweather or any of their choir family.  It is not required to attend the conference.  It’s mainly so we can all see each other.  The link to the conference will be on the choir website under the Online Choir tab.

All interested students in good academic standing will be enrolled in either Luminosa (advanced women's choir) or Virsonum (advanced men's choir) fall trimester at which time we will hold more formal auditions.  Details in regards to theses auditions will come at the beginning of next school year.

Uintah High Choir Family,
Whew!  We’ve been doing this for a month.  Although I’m disappointed that we won’t meet before school’s done for the summer, I am glad to have some clarity for the end of the school year.  I’m excited to bring back “I See Colors”.  It’s a beautiful song and will be a nice ending to our year.  Work hard on it so it will sound just as amazing as if we were all rehearsing together. 
 
End of Year Plan – Spring Virtual Choir Concert
Now that we know we will not be meeting again this year, we are going to slightly change directions.  Here are the plans:
                  - We will no longer be working on “Calling All Dawns”.  We will save it for another year. L  If you have a previous “Calling All           Dawns” related assignment you should still finish that assignment. 
                  - We will have a Spring Virtual Choir Concert live on Zoom, hosted by me.  I hope to the premier the virtual choir videos we                                 have been working on and to announce the choir awards.  The date is TBD, but it will be sometime in the final two weeks.
                  - The next 3 weeks we will be relearning “I See Colors” and submitting audio files for a combined choir virtual performance.              Many of you might remember we learned most of it at the beginning of the year, but we didn’t perform it.

Graduation/Uniforms/Folders/Music
Currently I don’t have information in regards to graduation or how you will turn in your uniforms, folders and music.  Make sure you take care of your choir items and plan to turn them in when more information is available.  More info to come.

​Uintah High Choir Family,
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Spring Break.  I know for me even though I was mostly stuck at home it was nice to have a bit of a different routine.  To be honest I’m loving the time with my family.  Whether they’re loving the time with me is up for debate. I do want to say thank you to the many of you who have really dug in and tried to figure out all this technology stuff.  I know how daunting it can be and I really appreciate those who have taken the time to submit their assignments, especially the audio submissions.  Keep up the great work.
 
Week 4 Assignments in Canvas
There are 2 things to complete in Canvas this week.  1 – A Daily Listening Assignment with quiz and 2- the Virtual Choir Phase 2 Assignment.
 
Choir Awards Ballot – IMPORTANT!
We still have many students who have not filled out the Choir Awards Ballot.  The Ballot is on the weeks Canvas module.  Please fill it out if you have not done so already. 
 
Choir Spirit Week
After visiting with choir leadership before Spring Break they decided to a CHOIR SPIRT WEEK this week.  Sorry I’m a day behind.  The plan is to have each student take a photo and post it on the choir Instagram, Twitter or Facebook page following the following daily criteria:
                  Monday – Choir Shirt Day (Take a photo of you wearing your choir shirt)
                  Tuesday – Quarantine Group Day (Take a photo of you and the people with whom you are quarantined.)
                  Wednesday– Hobbies Day (Take a photo of you doing one of your favorite hobbies)
                  Thursday – Outdoor Day (Take a photo of yourself outside – don’t forget social distancing)
                  Friday – Pajama Day (Take a photo of yourself in your pajamas)
If you don’t have a social media account you can also text or email your class presidency.  Leadership will be keeping track of participation and whichever class has the most participation (based on class percentage) wins.  We’re not sure what yet, but you’ll at least have bragging rights.  HAVE FUN. J

Grade Updates (Reminder)
I plan to check on assignments and update grades on Tuesdays.  If you’ve turned something in late, please plan on your grade not being updated until the following Tuesday.
